In order to build the In Good Company website launched in July 2010, the JPD Studio team worked closely with IGC co-founders Adelaide Lancaster and Amy Abrams. In Good Company is an incredible shared, resource-rich workspace for women entrepreneurs. We’re big fans – both of IGC and of and these dynamic ladies!

The story of IGC began when Adelaide and Amy, working as consultants for women entrepreneurs, identified several reoccurring challenges that their clients faced, many of which stemmed from an expressed sense of isolation. The two created IGC to be both a community for women business owners ripe with learning opportunities and a physical co-working space where women could come to work, meet and learn. Since opening in 2007, IGC has supported hundreds of women entrepreneurs in the tri-state area and connected with women business owners throughout the country.
They’ve also had a lot of experience on their own before coming together to form IGC. Amy has over 10 years of entrepreneurial experience. Through her work over the past decade, Amy has helped hundreds of individuals launch and grow their own businesses. Amy is also the founder of Artists & Fleas, a marketplace for emerging artists, designers and vintage collectors in Brooklyn. Amy also founded Interactive Pipeline, a recruiting firm specializing in placements for start-up start-up companies.
Adelaide is a successful entrepreneur who excels at making business ideas a reality and helping businesses grow to their potential. Adelaide is both a strategic thinker and a master implementer. She has spent her professional career dedicated to helping women find work that is meaningful and rewarding. Adelaide was recently featured in the book Upstarts!, as one of 60 Gen-Y entrepreneurs who are rocking the world of business. She was co-founder and Principal Partner of Berkman Fives a consulting firm that helped women professionals with career development.
BACKGROUND
JPD Studio Principal and Creative Director Jessica Perilla has been a member of In Good Company since January 2008. Through her participation and involvement with IGC (including teaching at member workshops), In Good Company approached JPD Studio to design and develop a new website for IGC in the spring of 2010. From there, we worked closely with IGC to determine content, placement and functionality for the dynamic new site and Twitter page. We’re pleased to be involved with such a wonderful company – especially one that promotes women entrepreneurship.
OUR PROJECTS
In terms of the website project, working with Adelaide and Amy was a wonderful experience, as they are focused, open to ideas, excellent communicators and have a great eye for design.
We worked closely with IGC tocustom design and code the content-rich custom IGC WordPress website. The site features nicely laid-out information about the story of IGC, its member community, resources and membership benefits. Users can apply for membership, read about various membership packages and peruse the content-rich IGC blog. The homepage features latest articles written about IGC, recommended reads by the IGC staff, upcoming IGC events, and Twitter feeds that show both In Good Company’s tweets as well as the IGC mentions in other people’s tweets. An events page also lets members stay on top of the goings-on at IGC, as there are always great events being added to the schedule.
We’ve also worked with Adelaide and Amy to create a new design for the IGC membership brochure that integrates the fresh design we created for the full website. We’re also proud to have recently worked on a new landing page for their soon-to-be-released book, The Big Enough Company. Check out the video below and be sure to pick up a copy when it’s released!
